10-23-2018

ENCINO, Calif., October 23, 2018 – Encino Hospital Medical Center today announced that it has achieved 5-Stars for its performance in Treatment of Heart Attack and Heart Failure for six years in a row (2014-2019) from Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. This achievement is part of new findings and data released by Healthgrades and featured in the Healthgrades 2019 Report to the Nation. Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 32 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions.*

The new report demonstrates how clinical performance continues to differ dramatically between hospitals regionally and nationally. This variation in care has a significant impact on health outcomes. A 5-Star rating indicates that Encino Hospital Medical Center’s clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated.

Encino Hospital Medical Center also was named a 5-Star recipient for these specific treatments and procedures:

  • Hip Fracture Treatment for Four Years in a Row (2016-2019)
  • Treatment of Pneumonia for Three Years in a Row (2017-2019)
  • Treatment of Sepsis for Six Years in a Row (2014-2019)

"The hard work of our doctors, nurses and staff in providing top-of-the-line care to the Los Angeles community is evident with this recognition from Healthgrades," says Sunny Bhatia, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Prime Healthcare Division I and Chief Medical Officer, Encino Hospital Medical Center and Sherman Oaks Hospital. "The expertise, dedication and patient-centered teamwork displayed by these individuals led to Encino Hospital receiving these awards and we are proud of these achievements.”

“Clinical quality varies significantly between hospitals, so it’s important for consumers to use information about outcomes to assess where to receive care,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer at Healthgrades. “The 5-star ratings for these clinical specialties showcases the expertise and commitment of Encino Hospital to their patients.”

Healthgrades recognizes a hospital’s quality achievements for cohort-specific performance, specialty area performance, and overall clinical quality. Individual procedure or condition cohorts are designated as 5-star (statistically significantly better than expected), 3-star (not statistically different from expected) and 1-star (statistically significantly worse than expected) categories.
